English or American, ca. 1770-1790. Mahogany, decorated with inlaid shells, glass, and turquoise beads, gilt highlight. Condition: In a fine state of preservation, wonderful early 19th c. surface. Old repair to the back right foot, retains an early 19th c. finish. This unique and unusual child's size chair was either originally adorned with shells, glass and beads and gilt decoration or perhaps decorated in the early 19th c.
