New England, ca. mid-19th century. Maple and pine, with copper-tack joinery. Three beautifully cut fingers. In a soft paint that can best be described as cinnamon. The paint and the box are near mint, with just minor appropriate wear. The lines of the box are crisp and pure and clean, heightened by raised linear grain of the pine on the lid top. Small size at just 6 1/2 inches long x 2 9/16 tall. Worthy of the best "stack", or great as stand alone. A pleasure to hold and to study and to enjoy.
