RARE LARGE SIZE HARNESS RACING PRINT DATED 1853 NEW CASTLE (CHAPPAQUA), NEW YORK

I have yet to meet anyone from Chappaqua (which is most of the Town of New Castle in Westchester County,NY) who knows that there was a famous harness racing track there in the mid-1800's.  I found the Glendale Park Racetrack on the 1867 map of the town.  The match race in 1853 was between two very famous horses, Flora Temple and Hghland Maid, for a $2000 stake.  This broadside is a two color woodblock print.  Needless to say ephemera of this type rarely survives to the present day.  There is a little roughness in a few places but the condition is remarkably good for its age.  It is a charming piece of folk art and racing history.
