Yavapai basket

The Yavapai and the Western Apache Indians are related and their baskets are similar to each other. Very symmetrical designs are generally considered Yavapai. The weaving materials are devil's claw and willow.

This basket is a jewel. The basket has a beautiful patina and conditon is excellent. There are 20 stitches per inch and 7 coils per inch. This tray was part of the Johnson-Putnam Collection and is pictured in a collection photo.
