A Three-Part Set of Regency Argands

This handsome three-part argand set epitomizes the type of lighting being offered in a major American design center in the Classical period.  These were made by Messenger and Son of Birmingham, England and labelled B. Gardiner/N. York by the important New York retailer Baldwin Gardiner.  The bronze lamps feature fine patinated and gilt-lacquered surfaces with a panelled ornamentation used throughout the design.
