Attributed to Joseph Lehn, Elizabeth Twp. Lancaster Co. Pa, c. 1860. This painted tulip poplar wooden cup is similar to other known Lehnware pieces illustrated in "Joseph Lehn and Lehnware: Nineteenth Century Woodworker in Elizabeth Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania" by Donald M. Herr. Lehn made most of his cups and lidded cups in a repeated sequence. The bas was dark blue, then a green stripe, red stem, salmon bowl and red border. The lids were green, the salmon with finials always painted dark blue. The condition is excellent. Height 5 inches.
