Three 18th & 19th c. Needlework Pieces



Needleworked fan, pocket and Bible cover. This rare and wonderful grouping of textiles worked by Esther Moore before and after her marriage has survived intact with a later needleworked Bible containing an extensive family history. The pocket is accompanied by a note saying,"Esther Moore Barybe Pocket, her Grandmother Samson learnd her how to make it." Pocket is worked with wool crewel. Fan with original handle is worked on both sides with wool and silk. Bible cover is solidly worked in wool. Some minor wool losses.
