While the tag on the burner tube reads JOHN B JONES/BOSTON, this elegant lamp is more likely to have been imported to Boston to be offered in a shop selling fashionable and fancy goods. John B. Jones continued a chain of business partnerships which became Shreve, Crump & Low in 1869. The nice heavy castings and the two tone green patinated finish would have appealed to the local clientele. Applied rosettes adorn the cylinder shaped standard while a nice frosted and cut glass shade tops the lamp.
