Coca-Cola Vending Machines Trade Catalog - 1948

Description

COCA-COLA VENDING MACHINES. WHERE THERE'S COCA-COLA - THERE'S REFRESHMENT. A Coca- Cola coin cooler is the sign of a pleasant place to shop. . . salesman sample catalogue for Coke vending coolers. Atlanta, GA: The Coca-Cola Company, ca. 1948. Folio. [16 pp (unpaginated)], printed in green, black & red, w/ numerous color illustrations. Printed wraps, stapled as issued. First edition of this exceedingly scarce Coca- Cola advertising catalogue for the V-59 and V-83 coin operated Coca-Cola vending machines. The Vendo 83 depicted in this catalogue was Vendo’s first mass produced upright, coin operated soda machine, and operated mechanically with a rotating drum holding the ice cold Coke bottles. The version depicted here was produced starting in 1948, when Vendo replaced the aluminum face plate with two stainless steel horizontal bars, but one of the text illustrations still retain the aluminum face plate. The other machine advertised in the catalogue is the Vendo 59 manufactured from 1948-1951, and would hold 59 6 1/2 ounce bottles. Of interest is a great color illustration on the last page of a Coca-Cola delivery truck painted in yellow with the Coke advertising signage. No copies located in Worldcat; See: The history of the Coca-Cola Bottle -- The Marketing Site; Coca-Cola Vendo 39 and 59 Soda Machines, May 10, 2010, Vintage Vending; Vendo Coke Machine History and Serial Numbers (2016).
