This rare diminutive size Secretary has many attributes found in Hartford area furniture. The carved scroll-board pediment with carved rosettes and applied molded edges, along with the finials, are features occasionally found on Chapin pieces. The upper section opens to a fitted interior with compartments divided with shaped cupids-bow designs, seated above the desk portion. The slant lid opens to a fitted step-backed interior with a carved central panel removable door flanked by document drawers and compartments with shaped valences all above four graduated drawers supported by carved ogee-bracket feet.
