An especially fine pair of Chinese export porcelain chargers decorated with in intense underglaze blue, meticulously handpainted with an image of a bird on a flowering branch of peony (the Queen of the Flowers, and a sign of wealth and nobilty), with further ausicious blossoming branches around the rim. One small line to the reverse of the rim sealed, and some small kiln frit on the front of each one, part of the firing process, otherwise brilliant condition. Yongzheng period, circa 1730.
