English Pottery Set of Six Botanical Plates, Cauldon Ware, Made for Mortlock's, Oxford Street, 1889-95
The six moulded plates each have a bright well-painted botanical specimen in the central well and the border with a dark red-brown.
Mark: Each with a printed aqua green wreath with CAULDON WARE above and Mortlock's/Oxford Street within. Also, a script orange mark H/6004/5 all but one numbered 4 (one numbered , one not) 7, 9, 11, 14.
The pattern number places them in the BWM period, certainly before 1904, and the late 1880s is likely. The pattern book starting H/4241 is dated 1889, and the book starting H/8969 is dated 1896. Unfortunately, the pattern book starting H/5374, which contains this pattern, is undated.
