Pair of Prior/Hamblin Portraits- #2, Young Gentlewoman

Being sold as a pair,” A Young Gentleman with a Waistcoat, Jacket, and a Red Book” along with “A Young Gentlewoman with Blue Eyes and a Red Book.”

Of the Prior/Hamblin School, the pair are both ¾ length and display details which point to a refined class of the 1840’s. The Gentlewoman wears a black pin tucked  dress circa 1840’s with small stand up white lace collar and white lace wrist decoration. A yellow beaded necklace, possibly amber, secured with a grey ribbon at the back of her neck and a small red plaid bow ribbon adorn her throat. She wears a gold ring on her right hand and holds a red book. Hers eyes are blue and her hair is brown and neatly coiffed. A black double tiered hairband rests on her hair. The background is dull grey/green. A scarlet swag and black drapery pull are in the top left corner.

The Gentleman wears a white shirt and black tie and sports a black waistcoat with diamond pattern of red and yellow stripes. Over top of this vest, he wears a finely detailed black jacket with special emphasis on the lapel. In his left hand he holds a small, red book with detailed cover. The background is a dull grey/green. A scarlet swag and black drapery pull are in the top right corner.
