H. Katharine Maxey Patton (1866 – 1941) Catboats Racing

Born in Philadelphia, Katharine Maxey Patton studied at the Art Students League with Kenyon Cox, Charles Hawthorne, and Henry Snell, at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, with William Merritt Chase, and in London with Frank Brangwyn.  She was a member of the Philadelphia Watercolor Club and the Philadelphia Alliance.  She exhibited for many years at the PAFA annuals, winning a medal in 1913 and the Mary R. Smith prize in 1921.  Her exhibitions include the Art Institute of Chicago and the Corcoran.
