New England, likely Maine, ca. 1820. Best example of this form I have had in years. DOVETAILED case of white pine, decorated all the way around in sponged vinegar paint on a yellow ochre ground...... And just look at that awesome surface!.... Excellent structural condition and retains the original snipe hinges, hasp/lockset/keeper, brass bail, and internal nailed-on dust liner. About 15 1/4 inches long x 8 1/4 deep x 6 3/4 tall.
