Staffordshire Enameled Salt glaze Stoneware Chinoiserie Coffee Pot & Cover,

Circa 1760,

The pot with a flaring foot is decorated with Chinese-style "famille rose" botanical decoration with plants issuing from rockwork with an applied reeded strap handle and with a spout in the form of a bird head. Around the rim and the edge of the cover is green diaper swags edged in puce. The unusually molded spout is well painted in bright blue and a large green molded leaf on the lower section.  The cover with an acorn finial.  

Dimensions:  8 3/4 inches high x 5 1/4-inch diameter at the base x 7 3/4 inches wide.  

Provenance: Private Collection; Comes with an invoice from Auctioneer Richard A. Bourne Co. Inc., date 11/25/1972. lot 154 where it sold for $900.00.
