Early Pony Beaded Souther Plains War Shirt



An early Southern Plains pony beaded war shirt constructed of trade cotton cloth, glass trade beads, and yellow ochre pigmented native tanned fringe.  This shirt dates to the 1840-50's.  Examples from this period are extremely rare.  Kiowa, Commanche, or Ute.  Presented on a professionally constructed museum mount.  Fair/good condition, contact dealer for conservation report on the cloth shirt; there are areas where the fabric is shattered and has been stabilized and backed, staining and fading, signs of ethnographic use.
