3.4 x 5.8 Antique Caucasian Kuba Rug, Circa 1875
This antique mid 19th century Caucasian Kuba rug has a soft, pliable handle and whimsical motifs that suggest it is older than many examples, dating to perhaps circa 1875. The ivory field is decorated with charming flowers, diamond motifs and stylized animals. The navy flowerhead border suggests it was woven in the Kuba district in the northeast Caucasus, as does the blue cotton end finish.
Considerable areas of restoration. Priced accordingly.
