An over size antique Bakshaish carpet with a prized sky blue field and all-over design of camel color palmettes. A brick red Turtle border frames the field.
The village of Bakshaish is located in the Heriz district in northwest Persia’s Azerbaijan Province.
Renowned for their soft colors and frequently featuring all-over patterns, antique Bakshaish carpets, along with antique Sultanabad carpets from central Persia, are considered the most decorative of Persian carpets woven in the 19th century.
