Appears to be maple, painted black (19th c.).
Over-all in great condition, full height.
A classic form of high country Queen Anne armchair having great form and proportions. The chair has a shaped crest rail above a vasiform splat flanked by carved scroll-shaped arms with a rush seat supported by block and turned front legs terminating into carved Spanish feet and joined by a pronounced turned front stretcher.
