This miniature cherry chest of drawers is signed and dated from Marathon, Cortland County, New York, May 13, 1861. The chest was painted and probably placed in an attic where the painted surface became extremely crazed. The result is a folky random dot decoration on the surface of the chest. The chest is in excellent condition with the exception of the two glass pulls on the top drawer which are replaced. W: 9”, D: 5”, H: 10”.
