In 1824 General Lafayette, a beloved hero of the American Revolutionary War, returned to America for a triumphal tour.  He was celebrated wherever he went and the Stafordshire potters were eager to help by shipping to us every conceivable ceramic form with his likeness, along with Washington's, on it.  They have become highly desirable and collectible.  We are offering these two small cup plates along with a similar third plate (see HIA1106) which would make a good start on a collection.  In addition items HIA1056 and HIA1105 are particularly rare Lafayette plates and a terrific jug.
