Called "cornucopia mirrors" because of the fruits and vegetables flowing in abundance out of the fluted horns. They are carved in wood, gessoed and then gilded to bring out the details. Never plentiful, they infrequently appear in the antiques marketplace. They were made in America in the decade of the 1820's and are wonderful to decorate with. They are quite unusual in that they are among the very few period mirrors that are wider than they are tall.
Note that the gilt surface and mirror plate appear to be original.
