Parian ~ Daniel Webster



This large Parian bust depicts American statesman Daniel Webster robed in a classical garment. He was a member of Congress and of the Senate for various states from 1813 until his death in 1852. Three times he was an unsuccessful candidate for the Whig Presidential nomination. This bust is a Parian copy of John Crookshank King's marble bust of Webster in Faneuil Hall in Boston. The New Hampshire Historical Society also has a Copeland Parian bust of Webster. The figure is inscribed on the back: J. C. King / Published June 1853. Below that inscription, the piece is stamped: COPELAND.
