3.6 x 18 Antique Serab Runner, Northwest Persian, Circa 1880
Finely woven, with a pliable handle, this antique Serab runner from northwest Persia’s Azerbaijan Province appears to be older than the majority of Serab runners. It features an ivory field with archaic flowers and geometric motifs. Some of the medallions are a beautiful aubergine (eggplant) color. A charming camel color border and a red and grass green Reciprocal Trefoil border frame the field.
The plain, camel color banding appears to be largely original on the sides and has been expertly rewoven at the ends.
