New England, possibly Maine
Ca. 1800-1815
Eastern white pine, painted white
Condition: Excellent condition, minor imperfections, some touch-ups to the white painted surface.
It is rare to find a formal style of a lady’s secretary constructed of pine and paint decorated. The upper section has a dovetailed, molded cornice above two doors opening to fitted compartments with drawers and shelves. The lower case has a folding, writing surface above three graduated drawers with a carved shaped skirt supported by tapered legs. The entire case is highlighted with painted blue pin-striping.
