Retaining a beautiful intact two-tone gilt-lacquered finish, these fine girandoles are attributed to the esteemed Boston lighting manufacturer Henry N. Hooper. The three-sided base is anchored by a cast iron base weight and embellished with egg-and-dart and cornucopia decoration. The cast grape leaf and grape cluster prism ring is hung with colonial-shaped prisms. In the 1850 Hooper & Company trade catalogue, number 458 girandole illustrates virtually the identical base, candle arm, and prism holder while number 448 girandole shows the same candle cup. In addition, number 266 girandole is fitted with a similar base and identical candle arm and candle cup.
