The flowers on this drawing, probably a reward of merit, bear a close resemblance to the work of Elizabeth Borneman Dieterly (1798–1871), Buck County’s only known female fraktur artist. Dieterly taught school in Bedminister and Haycock townships from about 1823 to 1826. She never married and after her death at the age of 72, she was buried at Keller’s Lutheran Church in north-central Bedminster Township. Her estate inventory included a piano, maps, a bookcase, and ten “picktures.” On Dieterly, see Amsler, Bucks County Fraktur, pp. 246-51. Excellent condition; conservation mounted and framed with Tru Vue Museum Glass.
