Fulper Bisque Head Doll

18" Fulper Bisque Head Doll

A rare and lovely sweet faced doll, made by the Fulper Pottery Co. of Flemington, NJ. The Fulper verticle stamp is located on the back her neck.

The Fulper Pottery Company was established in 1805 in Flemington, New Jersey.  However, Fulper was not known as a doll manufacturer and was instead known for its usable stoneware and art pottery.  Its venture into doll manufacturing only started during World War I when there was a shortage of European imports including bisque doll heads.  The company decided to start manufacturing dolls in 1918 but it only did so until 1922.

Fulper dolls are a special part of American history and also adorable. She has her original head, body and the clothing she came with. I replaced her tattered wig and shoes. I also bought her a new dress but decided I liked her better with the original vintage dress. I would be happy to include her new one so this very fashion conscious lady can have a change.

She is in good well-loved condition.
