An early 19th century two gallon ovoid stoneware jar marked CHARLESTOWN, dipped with a rich brown glaze. It was made at one of the two Charlestown, Massachusetts potteries, most likely by Frederick Carpenter. It's stamped with two Gs to indicate capacity. There are some chips to the rim, base, and interior bottom. It was purchased from a long-time collector of Boston and Charlestown stoneware.
