Woven in northwest Persia or The Caucasus by a member of the Shah Savan tribe, this outstanding Soumak (brocade) technique bag face features zoomorphic forms on in three horizontal panels, two with a brick red background and one with a navy background. A navy blue border with an ivory interior guard border frames the field. This bag face retains the original closure tabs at the top. A highly collectable piece which would also be very decorative if displayed on a wall, table or draped over a chair or sofa. It could also be backed with velvet and would make a superb pillow.
