Painted on a one-inch thick scrap wood panel with case constructed frame, like a trade sign might have been, this was likely completed by a workmen doubling as an itinerant artist. Hard not to think of the early work of Pittsburgh’s John Kane. 

Seen from the hillside, the crystal blue sky frames an entire agrarian turned early industrial town (identified as Salt Run Ohio in the grass).

TINY steam locomotive races towards the P.R.R. trestle bridge w/steamboat on the river in view and farm stead along the banks.

Frame w/hand carved bevels and Pennsylvania (also the railroad’s logo) Keystone.
