Written and self-published by Quincy Scarborough in 1995, this publication was limited to 1500 copies. Softcover, with 136 pages and more than 80 black and white photographs and line drawings, this book explores the trades of the metalworkers in North and South Carolina throughout the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries. Each of the first three chapters explores the makers of a different medium (copper, pewter, and tin), with the remaining chapter covering African-American workers and their contribitions. The most usefu aspect of this books is the appendices listing all known makers of these metal items for both states, with known biographical information when available. Signed by the author. Very fine condition.
