Hepplewhite Tambour Ladies Writing Desk



Fine hepplewhite inlaid mahogany two part tambour ladies writing

desk, the upper cabinet with inlaid central door with concealed drawers, flanked

by tambour sections with cubbies and drawers, set on a base with shaped waist

molding and fold down writing board, above two crossbanded figured mahogany

graduated long drawers raised on square tapering legs with matchstick inlaid

stiles and bellflower and ebony dependent inlaid legs. Replaced brasses, center

door reversed. Retaining an old, mellow finish. School of Edmund Johnson, Salem,

Mass., circa 1795-1800. 36 3/4" wide, 18 1/4" deep, 43" high.
