Federal Cardtable



North Shore, Massachusetts or Coastal New Hampshire
Ca. 1800-1850.
Mahogany, flame birch veneer; secondary wood, pine.
Condition: Overall fine condition with minor imperfections,
shrinkage cracks to top.
Affixed with an old label on the underside of the top: This table belongs
to my niece Miss Elizabeth J. Fogg of Zanesville.”
The cardetable has a rectangular hinged top with a bowed front flanked by blocked ends and sides with outset corners and an inlaid edge above a conforming case embellished with book-matched flame birch veneer panels flanking a central plumb pudding mahogany veneer panel supported by ring-turned and tapered reeded legs.
