Scarce SHAKER-Made Painted Bowl with Distinctive Color Palette



Probably New England, ca. 1820-1840. Pine, with rich dry red paint on the exterior, and a very unusual and appealing worn orange over black on the interior, with black rim. Volumetrically large at 18 1/2 inches in diameter x 6 1/4 deep. Super condition. Bears a label that indicates that the bowl was purchased in Lenox, Massachusetts. Provenance: Private collection.
