A Pair of Classical Hanging Sconces

Recently removed from a home in New Jersey, this rare pair of Classical hanging sconces survives with their original two-tone gilt-lacquered finshes in tact. The wall plate of the bracket is composed of a mask of a bearded Bacchus with clusters of grapes on either side. The cast foliate and scrolled arm is topped with a dove about to take flight from the canopy. From this is suspended a five-light  candle-powered sconce. Beautiful bobeches are formed of cast leaves with matte finishes highlighted by burnished edges.
