Born in Brooklyn, New York, Ellen Starbuck studied in Paris and exhibited at the Paris Salon in 1888 – 1889.  Considered an Expatriate artist, she also had ties to the New York and Boston art communities, exhibiting at the National Academy and the Boston Art Club.
