IMPRESSIVE LARGE SIZE CREAMWARE LIVERPOOL JUG MADE FOR THE AMERICAN MARKET C.1800

Beautiful portrait of an American sailing ship with lots of detail and excellent color.  What is most impressive is that despite its large size the transfers take up the entire side with no wasted space.  Under the spout is an eagle and shield which is a device used by the Herculaneum Pottery in Liverpool that produced the finest ceramics in Staffordshire.  Usually that is sufficient but this jug goes one step further, the transfer on the other side is equally important.  It is the "Apotheosis of George Washington" which ocurred in 1799.  Only the most skilled engravers could have designed and produced this fantastic transfer.

Condition is overall original and excellent with some minor invisible restoration to a few hairlines.
