Two Gallon Jar Marked BOSTON

A two gallon stoneware jar marked BOSTON, in an uncommon form and dipped with a rich brown glaze.  It was made at the Charlestown pottery of William and John Little in the early 19th C, most likely by Frederick Carpenter.  There is a long hairline on the front.
