A large red and green appliqued and autographed quilt square. Written in script are Miss. Zerriah Hancock, Hedding, April 12th, 1853, and Miss Amie N. Hancock. The Hancocks lived in Hedding, New Jersey, which is outside of Trenton. Zeriah Shreve Hancock was born in 1788 and died in 1855. Her daughter Amie Newbold Hancock was born in 1832. This may have been made for Amie's upcoming marriage to Henry Purdy that September.
